When working with Web Services in EAM, there are currently three authentication methods available: basic authentication, bearer authentication, and API Keys. Among these, API keys offer enhanced security over basic authentication (username/password) and are simple to configure, making them an excellent choice for securing your web service integrations!

Setting up API Key Authentication for an EAM User or Service Account:

  1. Go to the Integration Configuration screen

  2. Create an Application Configuration record (EAM API Application with an Authentication Grant type), and then switch over to the API Key Management tab.

  3. Select the User ID (the user must have a Connector license tied to their account).

  4. In the Actions dropdown, choose Generate API Key!

Note: The APIKEXPD install parameter determines the API Key Expiration Date. If this parameter is left blank, the expiration date field will remain unpopulated.
